This week: embodied cognition, extended selves, and why social media is like a limb you can't control.

I'm finding that the combination of iPad and keyboard is great for 90% of my writing. The fact that there are online databases and other productive distractions that I CAN'T access from the iPad (or haven't figured out how to get to) is a positive right now; and the fact that Write Room doesn't save to the same Dropbox folder as Scrivener is a bit of a pain, but isn't overwhelmingly difficult.
And in a way, the combination of Write Room– which keeps you extremely focused on the document you're working on– and Scrivener– with its organizational and structural features– is pretty awesome. They're very different kinds of tools, but having both, and having them be SEPARATE, is working well for me.
