I spent this past week heads-down, finishing a new capstone chapter for the contemplative computing book, then going over the entire thing, trying to catch typos, even out the language, make the paragraphs shorter, and all that kind of stuff. Today, I finished the bibliographic essay, and a earlier this evening I sent it to my editor and agent.

Just over a year ago (fifty three weeks ago, if I count correctly), I left Cambridge, where I’d laid the groundwork for the book. Not a bad pace, if I say so myself. I just hope the book is better for it, not worse.

It’s been quite an experience writing the book. It’s been a fabulous excuse to talk to lots of wonderful people, to stretch as a writer, and to work seriously with some ideas that I love.

Of course, as Churchill would have put it, this isn’t the end, but only the beginning of the end. Next will come revisions, and after that the many things that have to happen before the book actually appears. But that’s all cool.
